LUCY OWL

Lucy Owl has developed a regimen of morning exercises that increase upper body strength. Every morning, she does them in the meadow in front of her house. She wants to set a good example for the other animals, because she thinks they're a little spindly. They are not too interested, even though she tells them the better their upper body strength, the better the foraging.

Lucy is made of gray organic cotton fleece, with natural wing tips and face. Her legs and beak are green organic cotton jersey. She is stuffed with washable polyfill, so she can be hand washed and air dried if she gets dirty. Her eyes are embroidered with cotton embroidery floss. She measures about 14".

Lucy comes with an "egg blue" linen dress with cute three-quarter sleeves and a velcro closure in back. Lucy's outfit is removable so the animals can share and trade clothes - she looks great in many different outfits, although shoes and socks don't fit her so well because her feet are a different shape. But her wings fit into sleeves surprisingly well.

Lucy will travel to your home swaddled in a collectible bandana, perfumed with a lavender sachet.

WHAT ARE THEY STUFFED WITH?

We stuff the regular dolls and animals with polyfill, which is clean and hypoallergenic, and stays springy for a long time even if washed in hot water. It is naturally fire-retardant, so it doesn't need to be treated with chemicals to comply with toy safety law. Custom toys made in our Brooklyn workshop can be stuffed with either wool or polyfill.

WHERE ARE THEY MADE?

We work with an organic-certified, fair labor factory in Noida, India for our regular line. We got to spend some time with the factory owner this summer, and we were really impressed by his commitment to quality work and fair treatment of the factory workers. Monograms, limited editions, all our kids' clothes, and most doll clothes are made in Brooklyn.

ARE THEY SAFE FOR BABIES?

The animals are suitable for all ages, because their faces are embroidered and they are soft. But if you leave an animal with a very young child, please remove any loose doll clothes (socks, scarves, hats, etc) that the baby could rip off and eat
